The Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers & Trainers

What is the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers?
Addressing the need for continuing professional development, the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers has been designed to help teachers develop skills that will enhance their practice by becoming more resourceful and versatile.
These skills are assessed and accredited, providing you with proof of your competence. The Diploma will enable you to demonstrate your ability to plan, manage and evaluate systematically; design and teach learning programmes using a range of methods; and develop personal skills that improve your professional practice.

The Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers

  • Helps develop skills that will enhance your professional practice.
  • Is suitable for anyone in a teaching or training role, across all education and training contexts and all types of learning    programmes.
  • Assesses each module by the submission of a practice-based assignment.
  • Allows you to submit assignments at a time that is convenient for you, rather than waiting for a fixed examination session.
  • Offers a flexible and modular structure, which reflects the teaching and learning cycle.
  • Has been developed in consultation with partners and Centres to ensure that a range of different teaching and learning contexts are covered.
  • Has been created with an international audience in mind so that globally accepted best practice can be taught while being sensitive to a local context and environment.

Who can take the Diploma for Teachers and Trainers?
The Diploma is ideal for anyone in a teaching or training role who wishes to develop and enhance his/her professional practice. It is not limited to one particular subject area or level of education and focuses instead on transferable skills and knowledge that can be used in any teaching or training context.

How is the Diploma for Teachers and Trainers taught?
All candidates will take part in the professional development activities organised by their Centre, to lead to the Diploma. Candidates must enter for the Diploma through The Nirmala Institute of Education.
They will work with a 'toolkit' of resources, approaches and ideas which will be applied to their teaching, as the focus of the Diploma is professional practice. The Centre will have a tutor or mentor coordinating the programme. Cambridge provides resource materials to help the candidates. The Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and trainers is a nine-month part-time programme for in-service teachers and trainers.
